A spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that questions about the possible shutdown of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 should be addressed to the Russian Ministry of Transport.
“I repeat once again, the Kremlin does not have the authority and ability (to stop or) continue to operate this or that equipment. Including aviation. This is the first. The second – this topic, of course, should be commented on, and questions should be formulated only to the specialists of specialized departments. First of all, this, of course, is the Ministry of Transport of Russia,” said Peskov.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov assessed the likelihood of decommissioning the SSJ-100.
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner, which flew to Murmansk on May 5, made an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo and caught fire. As a result of the incident, 41 people died.
