The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) expressed regret that violence took place at the construction site of Catherine’s Cathedral in Yekaterinburg. This is stated in a statement by the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk on his Facebook page.
He emphasized that the church stands for peace and harmony in society.
“The church is ready for dialogue with everyone, including those who today oppose the projects she initiated,” added Hilarion.
The metropolitan also assured that after the construction of the temple there will not be less space for walking, as recreation and sports areas are laid down in the project for the construction of the temple.
In addition, Hilarion expressed the opinion that there are much fewer opponents to the construction of a cathedral in the city than there are supporters.
Earlier it became known how they will conduct a survey on the construction of a temple in Yekaterinburg.
