Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump at the G20 summit.
According to the minister, both leaders “have a mood” for developing dialogue. Lavrov considered this a positive signal.
“I do not want to create any illusions, our positions are far from identical, not even close somewhere, we can say,” Lavrov said.
He added that Trump gave instructions following the talks in the presence of the Russian delegation. He called for seeking agreements and arrangements that would suit both countries. Russia shares this approach.
“We’ll see how American colleagues will work after this, in my opinion, very important and constructive meeting,” Lavrov concluded.
Earlier it was reported that the meeting between Putin and Trump was attended by the daughter and son-in-law of the US president.
