Pentagon officials warned of growing Russian influence in Africa

Russia and China are expanding their influence in Africa. According to current and past leaders of the African Command of the US Armed Forces, Stephen Townsend and Thomas Waldhauser, these two states are actively building economic, diplomatic and cultural ties with at least ten African countries.

In addition, during their congressional speech, they mentioned the growth of commodity circulation, the introduction of projects in the nuclear energy and oil and gas sectors, and the growing arms trade market.

They also talked about active Russian military companies in 15 countries of the African continent.

The generals called on the United States to also increase cooperation with Africa and prevent Russia and China from gaining full access to the ports and bases of the continent.
